36th Sheffield Scouts - Environment Partnership Awards Day 13/5/12
One of the most successful events that Hillside Harvest hosted in 2012 was the one with 36th Sheffield Scout Group. As part of their Environment Partnership Awards work, they volunteered to come to Hillside Harvest and help us with our work on the allotments. It was a very successful day and we even had dry sunny weather - no mean achievement for 2012!!!
ENVIRONMENT PARTNERSHIP AWARD REPORT
On a bright sunny morning in early May 2012 Lotti became a hive of activity in the name of Scouting.
63 volunteers from 36th SHEFFIELD (St. John’s Ranmoor) Scout group, made up of 21 families, 3 individuals and 2 dogs plus 9 members of Hillside Harvest joined forces to help their local community by making improvements on Lotti .
After a brief introduction, including the all essential health and safety talk, jobs were allocated and work began.
They dug, weeded, planted, sowed, laid paths, built and cleared undergrowth.
They even managed to have fun!
At lunchtime everyone downed tools and sat down to a massive picnic together.
The afternoon saw similar activities all tackled with enthusiasm and vigour.
At the close of the day all Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Young Leaders and Adult Leaders who had joined in were presented with an ENVIRONMENT PARTNERSHIP AWARD BADGE and a Hillside Harvest Information Pack.
Suitably rewarded for their efforts they then wandered home with smiles on their faces and a warm feeling inside knowing that they had truly made a difference.
